Mary Wambui, the strong woman of othaya

The 2013 Kenya elections will live in the memories of many for different reasons. To some, it is the electronic voter system that was never to be.

To others, it will be a promise of crossing over from analogue to digital leadership.

To others, it’s the colossal campaign money spent. And to others it is the delay of election results.

I will remember these elections for a totally different reason; Go for your dream regardless of what distractors say.

Imagine being told by the head of a country, you are a wishful thinker. What would you do? Imagine the president and all his entourage showing you publicly that you are non-entity, inconsequential, unwanted and a failure in waiting.

Probably this would dampen your mood and dreams and make you feel like biblical grasshopper and decide to throw in the towel.

This was not the case with one candidate whose resolute I have admired. The businesswoman, Mary Wambui, who clinched the Othaya member of parliament seat.

So regardless of what Jimmy’s and Baba Jimmy of this world are telling you. Go for your dream. Push for it. Dream even bigger. Look beyond what naysayers can see.

Dream big!
