If you are not a football fan, you will like this one more.

To be in the same wavelength, Arsenal and Liverpool are football clubs in England. Both play for the top flight league, popularly, known as Premier League.

Arsenal beat Liverpool  yesterday (13-12-2009) 2-1.

Premier League consists of 20 football clubs or teams.  Football season  starts in August and ends in May.

Among these 20 teams, there are four teams that dominate the top four spots; these are Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal foot ball clubs.

Arsenal stands out among the four clubs for five unique characteristics.

  1. Arsenal does not have big financial muscle like the other three clubs. When the other clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United are stretching financial muscle buying overpriced players, Arsenal is contented and believes in handwork, discipline and step-wise improvement. Arsenal spends on super stadium.
  2. Arsenal team is composed of foreign players; despite being in England, it sometimes fields eleven foreign players.
  3. Arsenal is coached by Arsene Wenger, who has a policy that I  admire. He looks for cheap, less talented, sometimes unattractive players and moulds them into superstars e.g. Patrick Viera and Thiery Henry. Arsene Wenger is said to look for rusty diamonds that he polishes into shiny, expensive gems.
  4. According to my opinion, despite the fact that Arsenal has the least talented players among the top four clubs, Arsenal plays the most attractive football in the world .
  5. Although Arsenal is criticised now and again for not spending on ‘quality’ players, it astonishes many by beating teams like Liverpool.

Lesson

In life, look for rusty, overlooked, unattractive diamonds and polish them. Avoid spending on already polished, glittering, overpriced diamonds. Change the thinking of buying what is already the best, instead, look for what has potential and make it the best.

-Be contented with that cheap TV you have, refrain from buying that expensive HD flat screen TV. You see the same images on both. The difference is clarity.  Save that money for your child’s education. After all we are moving to 3D TVs soon. This can be said about your mobile phone, kitchen appliances, house furniture etc.

-Your car that has been taking you from home to work is sufficient. The SUV you are eyeing will  actually not do anything extra except  messing your pocket and the environment.

-Avoid moving estate in January because you were promoted at work.  Live in the estate you are currently and save the salary increment for your own house.

-The most important thing, do not underrate what you have, trust it, improve it, enhance it and use it properly-success is beckoning.

Please add something else that you think we can use the way it is without buying an expensive alternative.

@ Edwin, …Arsenal will never win the league.. I think is an unfair observation after watching arsenal win leagues even without being beaten. Review history and see how many years it took Man U to groom the current winning team.

The moral of the Asernal analysis is amazingly excellent, but from the fans facet its disappointing.I mean victory is their paramount agenda.Whatever legal formulae the Manager uses, let the end justify the means (Victory) Otherwise change their call business to training (football academy)…..

Whats the point in having rusty gems that dont even fetch profits in the bigger scheme of things.what really counts in the E.p.l is winning the title and having a stable club,if money can bring that, spend!if rusty talent cant bring that drop it! Thats wat we call Paradigm-shift man.club management was not a calling the last time i checked! Its foolhardy for arsenal to shine rusty diamonds into gems only to lose them to financial powerhouses that eventually take the lions share of the spoil.

@Kiruja, I agree with you on Man U. But look at the budget they spend on players compared to Arsenal. Sure I support Arsenal but their model is unique. I admire football fans because they have biases and that makes the game interesting. How else can you explain the euphoria that foot ball creates.
